It was not done once, but several times in the film, even during the climactic battle scene against Megatron, OP is still trying to get the boy to "get it". "you were a boy, now you are a soldier. There is no other way" kind of dialog. Sort of like Jesus telling me "You were of darkness, but now you are a soldier of light" (I think that is how Paul sez it).

There is not a lot of theology traveling through this one, but there is enough to have me enjoy Christ's sacrifice and the real me even more. Honestly I thanked God for the film after we watched it as a family.

Good guy flick.
mMarvhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05232232688150982891noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34075051.post-50965179034510068812009-02-05T12:17:00.000-07:002009-02-05T12:17:00.000-07:00Another one that was amazing is The Kite Runner. ...Another one that was amazing is The Kite Runner. I have to say that God stunned me with his ability to show me Grace through a Muslim story. In fact, that was the LAST place I expected to be confronted with it. Yet, there it is, showing how it transforms lives and how Law brings death - even at a very young age.

Two young boys are friends in Iran (I think) and one is a servant and the other served. The servant offers up everything he has for his friend/master and the master betrays him.

These events haunt the boy master as he grows up and moves to the West, leaving him empty. As an adult he discovers that his boyhood friend was murdered by extremists and that he has an orphaned son. The rest of the story is his journey to find that boy (to his own peril) and develop a relationship with him. It is then that he learns the sacrifices his boyhood friend made for him out of love.
mMarvhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05232232688150982891noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34075051.post-23351978387818963482009-02-05T11:40:00.000-07:002009-02-05T11:40:00.000-07:00I think another film that should have been mention...I think another film that should have been mentioned (and in the Surprise! category) is the comedy with Ice T called First Sunday. The tale is of two friends that scheme to get money - one to have fun as a free loader and the other to keep his son from being sent several states away by his ex wife (for lack of alimony payments).

The idea they hit on is to rob the local church "from all dat money dey be collectin'".

Things go badly for the two (or it would not be a comedy I guess), but in the process, one finds his past wounds from the Church healed by an unlikely ally and as a result begins to see his real identity take over what he has been hiding behind for so many years. The other finds success (redemption of sorts) only when he gives up trying to "fix things" his own way, even though it appears that he will be unable to achieve his goal because of that choice to let go.

Good for several laughs and even a tear or two...and lots of quoteable lines!Marvhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05232232688150982891noreply@blogger.com
