Surrogate Passions

Perhaps the first sign that I’ve moved to prosecuting a position rather than trusting Jesus is that love—knowing it for myself and for others—is replaced by surrogate passions. I can grow accustomed to living by zeal, anger at sin, frustration at political knuckleheads and stupidity(!), and more. But if I have not love. . .kindly whack me awake because I’ve taken on the form of a good-for-nothing noise-maker. Call me “Gong Man” or “Cymbal Breath.” That should do it.

Can't recall ever having seen you in prosecutorial mode, Ralpy, but I'll be glad to flag you for it if I do. Or, maybe I'll just tell remind you of God's astounding opinion of you. :-)

I can't truly love others when I don't know, clear down to my innermost being, that God loves, adores, and cherishes me. "We love Him because He first loved us." The more I realize His love for me, the easier it is to love others. (I still have to stay away from politics though).

‎1Cr 13:1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.
