What if the following is actually true:
"For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." (Ephesians 2:10)
I mean, c'mon.

Well......if this is true....then I suppose we need to be abiding in Christ daily to be sure that the "work(s)" we are doing in His name are the "works" He actually did prepare for us in advance. There are a lot of "good works" to do out there, but what has God prepared for you to do? I think that is vital to know.
