"Who, me?" Yes, you. (Number 1)

While walking out the door on your way into the world this morning, did you think, “Well, here I go; God’s sacred mobile home into the day. . .”? No? If you did, you’d be right. Consider the following:

“Don't you know that you yourselves are God's temple and that God's Spirit lives in you? If anyone destroys God's temple, God will destroy him; for God's temple is sacred, and you are that temple.” 1 Corinthians 3:16-17

See, sacred-mobile-homey? It’s true. God did it, and that's what He thinks of you.

What do you think?

Oh, I agree...Sacred-mobile-homey. Even though the externals don't always match up to that...you see, I was backing around our turn around in our driveway because I was heading to the post office to mail a textbook someone purchased from me on ebay, and I hit a patch of ice and backed/smacked right into a tree...bam. Just like that, my Rockin' Cool Astro van took a hit! Broken tail light...and the "barn doors" on the back aren't going to open anytime soon. The van is looin' shabbier...still runs, just broken. It's pretty messed up & I don't have the coin to fix it. It is what it is. Now those internals...I have taken hits, but they don't change the fact of who we are in Him :)

I'd say you're oxygen deprived from years of breathing refined mountain air! just kidding... Awesome awesome thought as always. I and my creator are one spirit, dwelling together, always loved, always accepted... Unexcapably fused together with the God of all grace!

Thanks for the image, Ralph. I hope I also always have my GOOD SAM sticker on the back. Maybe it will attract someone who needs to know Him better.

Here's the deal Ralph, I'm sure hoping that the Holy Spirit that indwells all of us as Christ followers is what is shining forth from me everyday. Being God's mobile temple is an awesome thought for sure because every morning as I approach the mirror in my bathroom what I see is a slow fading of the woman I use to be. This as the glory of youth starts to leave. Now I know how Mose must have felt........lol! The image I see is lacking in it's worthiness to be a temple for any diety, never mind the holy Son of God! It really could use some serious painting and redecorating! Honestly with all kidding aside, I'm looking forward to the day when the outside matches the inside because it's getting harder and harder to cover the fading signs of youth with Mabellines magic concealer. Loved the post as always thanks for sharing your insightful post!!! Blessings, Barbara

What means "If anyone destroys God's temple, God will destroy him"? Can somebody destroy God's temple (me) and how can God destroy him?

  17. Anelia--There are a good number of Greek words that are translated into the word “destroy” in the English language. The one used here means “corrupt,” “ruin,” or "to bring into a diminishing condition." For example, it is used in 1 Cor 15:33—Do not be misled: “Bad company corrupts (destroys) good character.” (Italics mine.)

When the Israelites built the temple for God during the former covenant, they made it to God’s exacting specifications. It had to be perfect, signifying how God would one day make His new temples, those (us) who He made perfect through Christ and in whom He now lives. If someone mistreated or misused the dwelling place (temple) of God back then, God brought destruction or ruin upon him. Today if someone misuses the temple of God (1 Cor 6:19), then he or she is sowing to the flesh, which means a lifestyle that results in corruption. “Whoever sows to please the flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.” (Gal. 6:8)

In my mind, corrupting the temple today most often comes from not knowing or not believing that Christians have become the very temples of God—the New Testament Holy of Holies, as I like to say. So we treat one another poorly and treat ourselves poorly, which produces a ruinous or corrupted lifestyle. When Christians don’t know they are the temples of God, they will believe something else—something less—and live that out. And that will mean a diminished life.

    I hope this helps.
