My desire is to grapple together here over how well off we are with God through Christ,
and to live from His opinion of us.

What If?
What if God thinks He became sin and you became righteous?
POP QUIZ: Someone with a serious look on his face bursts into the room where you are and demands, “I need a righteous person right now!” Would you raise your hand and offer yourself? (2 Corinthians 5:21)
This is meant to be a commentary on what Jesus did for us and to us through the cross and resurrection, not a boast about our behavior or character. It is so common that we view ourselves “from a worldly point of view” (2 Cor 5:16), which obscures reality. What we see is temporary and inaccurate (including our appearance and behavior), but what we know is eternal and accurate (2 Cor 4:18). Christians see reality when their vision is shaped by eternal and invisible truth.
Yes...I came out of church where they taught I wouldn't really be righteous until I got to heaven. I thank God that He revealed truth to me that my righteousness is a gift and has nothing to do with me. That wonderful exchange at the CROSS. No greater love than this than the One Who layed down His life for us so we can be right in His sight on our "worstest" day. Now that's something to shout about if you are a shouting peson :)
I have made the choice to believe by faith what Father God says whether I'm feeling it or experiencing it so I can just agree with Him and see what happens when I do. I'm not always able to do this but I'm getting better at it everyday as He keeps reminding me how crazy He is about me. Ralph's book "God's Astounding Opinion of You" is a good source to read daily because you sure won't hear it many other places besides the Bible! I thank God for giving this gift to Ralph to share with whoever will :)
Absolutely!

ReplyDeleteWithout hesitation ... His righteouness has been gifted to me, and is not based on MY performance, but on HIS. God says I'm a saint.
